Hong Kong-ASEAN Summit 2025
09 September 25

The Hong Kong-ASEAN Foundation is delighted to participate in the Hong Kong-ASEAN Summit 2025, our fourth consecutive year partnering with South China Morning Post on the wonderful platform.

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the Guests of Honour, including the Hon John K C Lee, Chief Executive of the HKSAR; YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport of Malaysia; Dr Ceferino S Rodolfo, Undersecretary for Industry Development and Investment Promotions of the Philippines; Ambassador RM Michael Tene, Former Deputy Secretary-General of the ASEAN; the Hon Jeffrey Lam, Member of the Executive Council and Legislative Council; and Mr Nicholas Ho, Commissioner for Belt and Road of the HKSAR as well as distinguished speakers and friends from Hong Kong and around the world.

The Hong Kong-ASEAN Summit brings together policymakers, business leaders and the academia to brainstorm issues shaping Hong Kong-ASEAN relations.  Close to 300 guests attended in-person while more than 300 dialled in from around the world this year.   A stellar line-up of speakers shared sharp insights on trade collaborations, digital economy and sustainability under the theme of ‘Bridging Horizons, Building Futures’, the very idea that brought the foundation to life.

The ASEAN was Hong Kong's second-largest trading partner in 2024.  Total merchandise trade between Hong Kong and the ASEAN reached HK$1.29 trillion in 2024, while the corresponding number with the EU, one of our traditional trading partners, was HK$493.6 billion, substantiating that the ASEAN is a truly important arena for Hong Kong, and its importance is set to grow.

We look forward to continuing to contribute to the growing Hong Kong-ASEAN relations for a brighter and better future for all.
