Celebrating ASEAN Coffee Culture
25 April 26

On 24 April 2026, the Hong Kong ASEAN Foundation hosted ‘A Celebration of Southeast Asian Coffees’, bringing together more than 70 guests to savour and experience the rich diversity of ASEAN coffee culture.

We were honoured by the presence of Mr Thomas Jefferson Wu, JP, Convenor of the Foundation’s Advisory Council, Consuls-General from ASEAN and beyond, including Mr Muzambli Markam (Malaysia); Ms Lim Kim Suan (Brunei Darussalam); Mr Ammala Saenchonghack (Laos); Ms Phoo Pwint Ko Ko (Myanmar); Mr Romulo Victor M Israel Jr (the Philippines); Mr Eric Teo Boon Hee (Singapore); Mr Chaturont Chaiyakam (Thailand); Mrs Le Duc Hanh (Vietnam); Mrs Fithonatul Mar'ati (Acting Consul General of Indonesia); Mr Jun Miura (Japan); Mr Bauyrzhan Dosmanbetov (Kazakhstan); and Dr Bindeswar Prasad Lekhak (Nepal). Representatives from Chambers of Commerce and ASEAN students also joined the celebration, enriching the dialogue and exchange.

ASEAN coffee culture blends deep-rooted local traditions, such as Indonesian kopi and rich Vietnamese drip coffee, with innovative techniques. Guests savoured freshly prepared coffee brewed from beans sourced from seven ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam.

We would like to extend sincere gratitude to our partners for their steadfast support, and look forward to continuing fruitful collaborations to broaden and deepen Hong Kong-ASEAN ties.
