A 16-year-old Chinese orphan, Mei Mei, dreams of nothing more than being part of a “perfect” family. When her orphanage travels to Australia to partake in The Australian Choir Festival at the Sydney Opera House, Mei Mei takes the opportunity to find her Australian sponsor Dean Randall. However what she finds is far from what he depicted in the 33 postcards he has sent her since he started the child sponsorship when she was 3 years old. Initially mismatched and disconnected, the two begin a journey in search of belonging, family, redemption, love and acceptance.

BIOGRAPHY
Director | Pauline Chan
Pauline Chan is a multi-awarded filmmaker whose work has been exhibited worldwide theatrically, broadcast, and invited to official screenings at prestigious film festivals. Chan made history in 1997 as the first ever Australian-Asian, and first director/writer appointed by the Australia Governor-General as Commissioner of the Australian Film Commission. Chan pioneered the first and second Australia-China bilateral official treaty co-productions: Dragon Pearl (2010) and 33 Postcards (2012). Chan is jury member of script competition of Beijing International Film Festival, Board Director of International Chinese Film Festival. She is founder of Darkroom Films Australia and Roaring Pictures Australia, specializing in Australia-China-Asia film and TV joint ventures.
